volume one tells the abridged story of aiden's life. during his childhood in 1950's maine [flint & tinder, perfecsion, cyclic: bereft to sodden], he'd developed an obsession with physics. that obsession carried him all the way to the launch of pasadena's first lunar mission in 1975 [honir I-II-III-IV-V]. along with three colleagues and a massive team, the four men successfully punched through the atmosphere en route to the moon. post-launch, secrets are revealed in the module [girl of gold, lunacy, relic glow] that change their trajectories forever

volume one also tells the story of the rise and fall of a romantic relationship. you meet them, and it's intense. you feel the spark [flint & tinder]. you can't stop thinking about them. you're certain that they are perfect, unknowingly smokescreened by your own desires [perfecsion]. the relationship progresses... and certainly has its moments of tension, but you know that this is part of the process [cyclic: bereft to sodden]. embracing happy and reflecting on sad is key to health, right? you begin to falter [honir I], but enduring the hard parts make it all worth it in the end, so you move onward despite some pain [honir II]. there are moments where you know deep down that something is wrong [honir III], but you suppress it with an intoxicating, positive outlook. eventually though, you'll rip open and spew what's been rotting from within [honir IV-V]. after bursting, you'll start to remember what you saw in the beginning [girl of gold], but that moment is fleeting, and soon you've practically morphed into a person you no longer know [lunacy]. everything falls in a heap, and all you're left with is the numbness of this new reality [relic glow].
